About
My name is Trenton Hansen. I am a 40 year old student at Utah Valley State College (soon to be Utah Valley University), with 4 kids and our 5th due about December 23rd.
My wife, Lecil, is a Landscape Designer for Linden Nursery in Lindon, Utah. She taught me to put away the computers for a while and come play in the garden. She has changed my life in many ways.
My career has centered mostly around system administration and networking, but I am now moving into PHP/MySQL development for web applications. I work with Ryan, my brother, who owns his own development shop called Develligent. I have also done some work for my brothers-in-law, Will and Troy Groberg, who own Main10.
The PHP stuff is great, but it’s only a way to get me through school. I’m majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. My dreams are to study Law and Politics, get a JD and a PhD, and then settle into a great job doing what I love most, something involving teaching, or writing, or maybe even broadcasting. I don’t want to practice law, and I’m undecided as to whether or not I will ever run for office. There are just so many possibilities right now.
I grew up mostly in Utah, around Provo, where I was born. My family spent a few years in Anaheim, California while I was very young, but came back here when I was 7. I have three brothers and one sister still in this area. My youngest sister lives in North Carolina with her husband, who was just inducted into the Secret Service.
I served a mission for the LDS Church in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from June 1987 to May 1989. I learned to speak Quebecois there, and got to discover what Maple syrup should taste like. I loved the place and I loved the people. I’d really like to go back someday.
My Mom still lives in Orem. Dad passed away last December 27th. It was very sudden.
I keep three other blogs, all about politics. One is about “militant” Conservatism, another deals with politics from an LDS perspective, and the third is just other random Conservative thoughts. This one is dedicated to my personal thoughts and events.
It might get boring around here at times, but those are good times to sit in the old porch swing and just look out over the valley. I hope you’ll return often.
Hey Trenton – It’s John Baker. Remember me? The many nights hanging at The Palace? Email me — I would LOVE to hear from you!!!! I hope to talk to you soon. All My Best, John

John is the man who introduced me to my wife, and for whom we named our first child.
Welcome back, John! Great to hear from you!
